Q: Many of you have been asking if you should take a second booster vaccination for Covid.
A: My response has been to wait until a booster is available that is more active against the new variants we are seeing. The current vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna are only partially effective against these new variants. Well, on June 30th the Washington Post reported, “This fall, vaccine makers will begin rolling out coronavirus booster vaccines better tailored to fight the current phase of the pandemic.” The Associated Press followed up by reporting, “Pfizer and Moderna already were brewing and testing boosters updated against the first Omicron mutant in anticipation of an October rollout.” So if you have been fully vaccinated (or had Covid-19) and are seeking a booster, then it might be best to wait until October or so when the new vaccines are anticipated.
